What are the benefits of vanpooling?

Vanpooling is a flexible, cost effective alternative to driving alone to work, especially if you commute 30 miles or more each way. There are several benefits to vanpooling, including low commuting costs, less stress, reduced wear and tear on your own vehicle, and a reduction in traffic congestion and pollution. Dream more, drive less...you can if you van!

How do I get started?

To find out about vanpool routes in your area, browse our Vanpool Listings. If you don't see a vanpool route that meets your needs, let us know by calling 1-800-FIND-RIDE or completing one of our online forms for Employers or Commuters. You can also find additional information or discuss commuting issues in our Discussion Forum.

What are the chances of finding a vanpool in my area?

When you complete our Easy Street® NY Commuter Contact Form you will be included in a database with thousands of other commuters interested in vanpooling, and you will receive a ridematch list with the names and phone numbers of commuters whose requirements match yours. Chances are, you're not alone - others are waiting to share a ride with you!

What if I move or change my work schedule?

Let us know your new commuting needs and we will check the database for a new vanpool match. If you wish to cancel, you may do so at any time... there is no long-term obligation. Please call customer service at 1-800-FIND-RIDE two weeks in advance to cancel your seat reservation, payroll deduction or payment by debit or credit card.

What happens to the vanpool if someone drops out?

Call us at 1-800-FIND-RIDE. MetroPool will help fill any empty seats and while a search is being conducted, the van stays in service for 90 days. After that, if low rider-ship continues, the vanpool group may be downsized to a smaller vehicle, if possible, or may be discontinued.

What if I need to leave work quickly during the day, due to an emergency?

Easy Street® NY offers an Emergency Ride Home program that will get you home in the case of an emergency.
